When I hear a musician or singer that captivates my ear, everything else in the world stops. Imagine being privy to concentrated blocks of recordings by a guitarist who keeps you mesmerized. The world stops for hours at a time.
I have attended events when this guitarist filled the room with captivating riffs and entanglements that could ever be stretched out of a guitar. The power exhibited during live performances commands audiences to notice the master has captured attention. In the studio, Roger will play for hours creating unimaginable sounds and turn it into an ethereal experience grooving full throttle.
Where does one get these arrangements of notes with crazy sounds and turn it into a unique composition? He goes toe to toe with the greats. He has an ear for matching the heavies and making it a part of himself. Occasionally you hear the psychedelic Jimmy guitar master, or Jeff’s chicken scratching mesmerizing classical sound. When Satriani hit the heavies with his classical/fusion/rock/legacy, Roger mastered every stroke. Roger’s blues style sounds like he crawled right into the Mississippi mud, breathing the lifeblood of tortured tones and rhythmic chord structure. You want to hear the blues? Then you will hear it at the core of his Southern California ripping guitar sound. Passion for the craft teases him to challenge his adeptness, privately, with skills of respected peers. When I think about the scene in Crossroads Roger would have blasted Vai back into purgatory. No disrespect to Vai as he also is regarded rightfully so as one of the heavies.
Having a signature sound Roger Nemour is not one to mimic. Fueled by personal creativity pushes him into extraordinary. There has always been a gifted musician for whatever reason remains hovering the border of celebrity status and how Roger has managed to do this mystifies me. I missed a great collaboration when he teamed with Ike Turner. Rogers’s funky blues style with signature Roger Nemour rock sound is untouchable and worth taking notice.
